Shock-absorbing pad

The shock-absorbing pad (anti-noise rubber pad) goes between the pedestal and the slab: it absorbs impacts, limits resonance noise and stabilizes the seating of the porcelain stoneware.

What is it for?

The shock-absorbing pad fits between the pedestal and the slab to absorb impacts, limit resonance noise and protect porcelain stoneware. Laid without glue or grout, a terrace on pedestals stays removable and drains perfectly: water runs off through the joints, air circulates under the slabs and utility ducts pass beneath the surface.

Frequently asked questions

How do I stop my terrace on pedestals from being noisy?

Fit an anti-noise rubber pad / shock-absorbing pad on each pedestal head: it absorbs vibrations and eliminates the hollow sound of porcelain stoneware underfoot. It is the go-to reflex for a quiet terrace.

What does a shock-absorbing pad do?

It cushions impacts between pedestal and slab, reduces resonance noise and improves the seating of the slab on the pedestal head (less micro-movement). It also protects the underside of the slab.

Does a shock-absorbing pad improve the grip of porcelain stoneware?

It mainly improves the stability of the slab on the pedestal (less slipping of the slab on its head). Surface grip depends on the slip-resistance rating (R11) of the porcelain stoneware, not on the pad.

What is a shock-absorbing pad for?

It cushions the contact between the slab and the pedestal. This protects porcelain stoneware from micro-impacts and noticeably reduces the hollow sound a terrace on pedestals can make when you walk on it.
