Outdoor porcelain stoneware slabs & tiles 20 mm

20 mm porcelain stoneware, designed for pedestal installation

Its thickness gives it the mechanical strength to rest on four point supports, with a textured non-slip surface. Through-body porcelain stoneware is frost-proof, rot-proof and virtually non-porous: it is unaffected by frost, UV, stains and moss, and cleans with soapy water.

Laid without glue or grout, a terrace on pedestals stays removable and drains perfectly: water runs off through the joints, air circulates under the slabs and utility ducts pass beneath the surface. Place a pedestal at each slab corner, with a central support for large formats, a 1 to 2% fall and a 8 to 10 mm gap around the perimeter.

Frequently asked questions

Why 20 mm and not 10 mm for pedestal installation?

On pedestals, the slab rests on only four support points. It therefore needs enough thickness to withstand bending and impacts. The 10 mm, designed to be fully glued to its substrate, would break.

Can 20 mm be glued too?

Yes, 20 mm porcelain stoneware can be glued to a screed or laid on a bed of sand and gravel. Pedestal installation nevertheless remains its most common and fastest method.
